Having fun while working

I help do some of the marketing within Right at home of South Charlotte which i've found to be one of the best part of my experience so far. I think its because we all like to have fun .

From the start we new we've known it would take time to get our name circulating within the Charlotte area. The South Charlotte branch of Right at Home has been open just 6 months and there are several home care assistance agencies that have been in the area for much longer. So we channel our inner child and try to get creative by planning activities that our community seniors can participate in and have some fun. We hope that this will give will give us some name recognition and in turn allow us to get to know these communities residence as well as the office and managerial staff.

Our first activity was a poker tournament at Willow Grove, an independent living facility (ILF) in Matthews North Carolina. Williow Grove is a beautiful facility that offers a full range of services for those who have high functioning physical and mental capabilities. We made a poster and sign up sheet broadcasting our"First Annual Willow Grove No'Limit Texas Hold'Em Tournament". Nikki, the Activites Director for Willow Grove, was great in helping get the word around and setting us up where we could have a proper tournament. In all, about 8 people battled it out for the first prize-which included a trophy and some Right at Home tee shirts. There was some drama towards the end and it seems everyone enjoyed themselves, including myself and Angelo. I felt like we all connected having fun throwing poker chips around the table. It never felt like work. And Nikki called a few weeks later asking when we can do it again. I think it will be soon.

Other activities we've put together is an event that featured roughly 30 kids of different ages from the Community School of Arts in Charlotte giving a violin concert. We partnered with a local Charlotte adult daycare which provided the auditorium to host the concert.

Our most recent event we held at a memory care center in Charlotte named The Court at South Park. This event featured a working mining flume, Bar-B-Que, and music. The operators of The Court donated individual gem kits which could be used in the minig flume. We enjoyed ourselves immensly and the money raised for the event was donated to the Alzheimers Association of Charlotte, NC.

Right at Home of South Charlotte

Right at Home of South Charlotte, North Carolina is the answer for in home care and assistance for the elderly and disabled. We provide many services for our patients, all which focus on maintaining and improving ones activities of daily living.

We started this labor of love because of our own experience with providing care for my mother-in-law, Rinda Shannon who suffered with Alzheimer's Disease for over ten years. My wife Meghan, her father Joe, and her sister Becky became her primary caregivers as the disease progressed. While the disease took its toll on both Rinda and her caregivers they held steadfast with faith in God, love of family, and a promise made by Joe not to take her out of their home and into an assisted living environment. We soon realized if we were going to keep that promise it was going to take an around the clock effort of trusted care support.

Luckily the Shannon family was large enough to guarantee that support. Near the end of her life we enlisted the help of agency caregivers and skilled nursing that came to us. They were so valuable in providing the respite care that Joe, Becky, and Meghan needed. This inspired us to buy into this wonderful company called Right at Home. If they could bring such invaluable relief to us in our time of need, then in turn we could do the same for others.

Right at Home is a national in home care and assistance agency. We provide trained, insured and bonded caregivers for a variety of elder care services. Whether it's for extra assistance after a stay in the hospital, an aging parent who needs extra help or companionship to remain in their own home, or as a respite for a husband or wife who cares for an ailing spouse, we can help with home health care needs.

We understand what you need in home care services and want you to understand why we at Right at Home are different.
